Wetherspoons helps Cera grow talent pool under Apprenticeship Levy

UK pub chain Wetherspoons has backed the health and care sector with a significant donation to home healthcare provider Cera Care.

As part of the Apprenticeship Levy, Wetherspoons’ £200k+ investment was guaranteed to Cera in December 2022 and will cover the recruitment, training and placement of 68 adult care apprentices.

Annabel Nash, chief people officer at Cera, said: “All of us at Cera are delighted to receive such significant investment from Wetherspoons as part of the Apprenticeship Levy.

“This sizeable donation will go a long way in growing the talent pool and attracting new recruits to a rewarding, lifelong career in care.”

The apprentices will achieve between a Level 2 (Adult Care Worker) and Level 5 (Leader in Adult Care) Diploma in Care. To date, more than £100k of Wetherspoons’ donation has already been allocated.

Each level includes the apprenticeship standards plus an industry-recognised qualification. It will be tailored to suit the needs of the individual, depending on their area of specialisation. Areas include care for the elderly, dementia-specific, learning disabilities or mental health.
